Toward the end of the Gilded Age and in the early part of the twentieth century, a new style of architecture began to take hold in the United States. Side stepping away from Gothic Revivalism and Victorian decorative and structural elements, Storybook was a nod to a Hollywood style of design known as Provincial Revivalism (more commonly referred to as Fairytale or Hansel and Gretel). Storybook houses evoke Tudor Revival cottage, Cotswold cottage living, and country cottage roof or cedar thatch styles that mimic rolling and rustic hills.

Custom Cedar Solutions has been enchanted with Storybook architecture for almost 30 years now, and we want to do our part in contributing to the upkeep of these classic cottages. We design and manufacture curved, fishscale, sawtooth and diamond cedar shakes and shingles to suit any style of cottage and any curve or peak of roof.
