Cozy & Clean

This customer just completed a cleaning and sealing before the winter months set in.  Cleaning your wood shingle roof before winter is a crucial step in maintaining its integrity and preventing long-term damage.

How often should I clean my cedar roof?

For maintenance, we typically go by what the Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau recommends, which is cleaning and preserving every 5-7 years. Cedar Shingles need to breathe, and if debris, moss and mildew are left to accumulate on the roof, it can potentially lead to rot or decay if left unchecked, especially in the wet winter months.

Should I apply a preservative to my cedar roof?

While cedar shingles naturally have a long lifespan, applying a layer of clear preservative stain helps to even better protect the shingles against the elements, and can extend the life of a cedar roof.
