A roof really is the crown of the home and has the ability to add extra style and character to a home. Dormers are just one small element on a roof, but they allow us to bring just that much more detail to a home, plus extra sunshine.
Hipped roof dormers
There are many different styles of dormers, but with our Country Cottage Roofing System, the most popular we see are gable dormers, hipped roof dormers, and eyebrow dormers.
Below is an example of a gable dormer. This look was achieved with our curved gable shingles:
Gable Dormers
This is quite possibly our most unique and dramatic dormer! This used a combination of steam-bent shingles and a faux-thatch installation pattern to create a puffy, mushroom-style dormer.
This log home located in Japan features what would be considered hipped roof dormer, as has three sides of the roof, with the third being the sloped front:
Another unique style we see often on Country Cottage roofs are eyebrow dormers. On this particular install, these shingles were installed with a very tight exposure and specific pattern to achieve the waved, rolling look. Zoom in to see the custom copper gutter below the eyebrow dormer, specially designed and soldered to follow the roof line!
While just a small element on a roof, dormers can add an extra level of customization to any home. Check out our Country Cottage Roof Gallery to view more dormer styles!
